From what materials our products are made?

Our products are made from silk - a natural protein fiber produced by certain insect species, primarily the silkworm larvae used to create cocoons, with the most well-known being the mulberry silkworm. Here are a few key points about silk used in pillowcases:

Mulberry Silk: The most common and highest quality silk used in pillowcases. It is obtained from silkworms that are fed exclusively on mulberry leaves. Mulberry silk is valued for its excellent texture, durability, and glossy appearance.

Protein Fibers: Silk is primarily composed of two proteins - fibroin and sericin. Fibroin forms the central core of silk threads, while sericin is the sticky substance that surrounds it.

Amino Acids: These proteins contain 18 amino acids, some of which are believed to be beneficial for the skin and hair.

"What does 'momme' mean?"

In silk products, the term "momme" (abbreviated as "mm") is a traditional unit of measurement, serving to characterize the weight and, consequently, the quality of silk fabric. This measurement holds significant importance, influencing the durability, tactile experience, and overall excellence of silk items like pillowcases, bedding, and garments. Here's what you need to understand about momme in silk:

1. Definition of Momme Measurement:
Each momme equates to roughly 4.340 grams of silk per square meter of fabric, signifying a denser concentration of silk fibers within 100 yards of the material, resulting in a more substantial weight.

2. Higher Value, Higher Quality:
Typically, a higher momme weight correlates with greater durability and opulence in silk fabric. Elevated momme values denote denser, heavier, and more opaque silk, signifying superior quality and craftsmanship.

Typical Range:
Silk products often span from around 6 to 30 momme. For premium silk pillowcases and bedding, a momme range of 19 to 25 is recognized as indicative of exceptional quality.

Lightweight Silk:
Silk on the lower end of the spectrum (approximately 6-12 mm) boasts a lighter and more translucent nature, commonly favored for delicate silk scarves and clothing pieces.

Bedding and Clothing:
Mid-range silk (16-19 mm) finds widespread use in clothing and certain bedding items, striking a harmonious balance between lightweight comfort and enduring resilience.

Luxury Bedding:
For luxury bedding sets and elite silk garments, heavier momme weights (22-30 mm) are often employed. These silk varieties offer heightened durability and an unparalleled sense of luxury.

What is hyaluronic acid and what are its benefits?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the human body, known for its remarkable ability to retain moisture. It is a type of glycosaminoglycan that plays a key role in moisturizing the skin and repairing tissues. The hyaluronic acid in a sleep mask can provide several benefits to the skin:

  1. Moisture retention: Hyaluronic acid can retain up to 1000 times its weight in water, making it highly effective in maintaining skin hydration. A sleep mask with hyaluronic acid can help to support the skin's moisture balance throughout the night.
  2. Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles: By maintaining skin hydration, hyaluronic acid can plump the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This can help the skin appear more youthful.
  3. Improves skin elasticity: Hydrated skin becomes more elastic, which can further help to reduce signs of aging.
  4. Skin regeneration: Hyaluronic acid is known for its healing properties. It can help to repair the skin barrier, soothe irritated skin, and accelerate wound healing.
  5. Suitable for all skin types: Since hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body, it is generally well-tolerated by all skin types, including sensitive skin.
